Rodrigo says that Tourette Syndrome (GTS) and gluten sensitivity may be associated. 23 children and 6 adults were put on a gluten-free diet and followed for a year. They found a “marked reduction” in tics, in both intensity and frequency of obsessive/compulsive (OCD) symptoms, and improved quality of life in general for both the children and the adults.
In their conclusions, the authors write that they have shown that following a gluten-free diet “opens up a new line of therapy for patients with GTS.” They report it as useful for reducing the frequency and intensity of motor tics, vocal tics, and OCD symptoms
